This game contains adult content and is only for audiences over the age of 18.

It's rare anyone ventures into the woods north of your village.

There are portions of the forest, to the south and to the west, which have been, for the most part, tamed, where herbs can be gathered and large game can be hunted, where the dappled sun glows bright through the leaves.

To the north, things are different. The trees thicken; the light dims. The shadows move with a kind of animate hunger. The wind threads through fur like a needle. It's easy to get lost completely. Once, maybe you would have been terrified.

Tonight, though, it's a blessing.

Spellbound is a piece of erotic interactive fiction about a mouse on the run, the witch who lets him into his home, and the weird gay sex they have (and the weird gay things they do that aren't sex but could be if you have a strange enough view of sex).

A lot of the paths and endings focus on hypno, and I suspect it comes across quite a bit in the writing that that's where my tastes most lie. Much of that is because I felt there was something of a dearth of hypno content, particularly in the interactive fiction space, that doesn't focus on bad end/corruption stuff (not that I dislike that stuff! Much of it is very well done and I enjoy it quite a bit).

I wanted to try my hand at writing something a bit more to my personal taste (I also thought it would be, if nothing else, an excuse to write a lot of furry smut). As the scope of the game expanded, I ended up including a lot of other kinks (a full list is available on the warning page of the game). Initially, I intended for every path to involve hypno, but now I'd say it's only maybe two-thirds of them.

What does this game feature?

  • Over 30,000 words
  • A branching narrative structure with more than ten different endings
  • Six unique sex scenes (and even more kink scenes on top of that)
  • A queer and trans protagonist
  • A self-indulgent magic system info-dump or two...

A mandatory warning page is displayed upon opening the game. A collapsible content disclaimer is available with a more specific list of kinks present in the game, as well as specific content that may be triggering or objectionable. This game isn't particularly dark or heavy, but there are references to dark and heavy topics and themes throughout.

If you enjoyed, feel free to leave a comment or a rating. The game is currently in a complete state, but I'm always willing to hear suggestions. If there are typos or bugs that I overlooked, also feel free to let me know.

this is cool!! I really like how the hypnosis is written here, especially the route where you run away and get caught. i just wish there were even more routes!! I hope you expand on this or make even more stuff later!!!

Thank you! I definitely want to do more in a similar vein in the future; I learned a lot from this and I’d like to make more stuff (potentially stuff that’s more graphically complex or stuff that has more complex logic behind the scenes (Twine or otherwise) than just a sort of “tree” for most of it). I’m definitely much more of a writer and artist than I am a programmer/game designer, but I do find it strangely motivating to try and teach myself some of that stuff through making weird horny games…

There are some really cute and fun NSFW games out there and there’s also a lot of AI generated sludge… generally, a lot of stuff made by people who clearly don’t have any passion for the story or the art or the gameplay and just want the attention that comes with sex. And even though comparison is of course the thief of joy, it can be pretty disheartening seeing how popular some of that stuff is.

I have no particularly noble intentions in terms of preserving passion for the medium or whatever (I’m hardly going to put myself on a pedestal just for writing erotica), but it does make me happy to put things out into that space that to some tiny extent displace the mountains of shovelware. All that is to say I would feel a bit lame putting out one fairly short thing and then never going back to that whole process.

It’s also to say thank you for leaving a comment; it does really mean a lot to me! I’ve played through some of your stuff; I haven’t “finished” Shallowcreek (i.e. done every path/ending) but I really appreciate how much meat you packed into the whole thing. It’s a big inspiration in terms of doing things with more complex logic and the overall creativity on display with the sheer amount of content.

Anyways, I don’t mean to ramble… point is, thanks for the feedback! I appreciate it a lot.

you're welcome!! and yes, it's true that nsfw games have a broad spectrum of quality that seems miraculously unrelated to their financial success. but for every soulless AI art pornslop, and every generic 3D animated straight porn patreon making $150,000 a year, there is a kinky freak's passion project dream that goes on to inspire another kinky freak to make one of their own. shallowcreek certainly would not have existed if not for games like corruption of champions/trials in tainted space, hypnoscreen, perfect home, caliross, cruel serenade, hachina... too many to name. you must find the strength to make something just for you, something that unabashedly indulges your deepest, strangest fantasies for all to see, for only in doing so can you hope to carry your legacy onward in the next generation of nsfw game developers. what is popularity in the face of giving someone a kink discovery event so intense it changes their destiny??
